Needs Assessment

This section provides a links to sites for guidance on assessing health need and impact. The Health Development Agency is the national authority on what works to improve people’s health and reduce health inequalities. They gather evidence and produce advice for policy makers, professionals and practitioners.

The national Electronic Library for Health provides a gateway to an extensive range of electronic resources that can aid evidence based health care decision-making. www.nelh.nhs.uk. For particular guidance on health care needs assessment a document within the 'Knowledge' section entitled 'Health Care Needs Assessment' provides a comprehensive guide to the area. The introduction to health care needs assessment is particularly useful.

The All Ireland Institute of Public Health has also a range of publications in relation to Health Impact Assessments.
