According to the Cancer Registry report, more cases of breast cancer are being diagnosed per year in Northern Ireland, however survival has improved, leading to fewer deaths from breast cancer.

Life expectancy in Northern Ireland has increased from 55.4 years for males and 56.1 years for females in 1925, to present day estimates of 74.8 and 79.8 respectively.

Smoking damages sperm and reduces sperm quality. Female smokers have a lower rate of conception and the risk of infertility is doubled.
